The latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is one for the ages, as the movie gathers all of the current superheroes that Marvel can offer in the big screen. Your favorite superheroes are back – Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, and many more. The heroes face the dreaded Thanos, the strongest villain the MCU franchise has seen to date. This latest installment of the movie franchise is ten (10) years in the making, spanning across 18 movies, all arriving to Infinity War being the 19th movie overall. Doesn’t this fact alone make the movie all the more exciting and must watch? If not, then read on.

The movie was originally scheduled to be premiered on May 2018. Showed above is from the social media Twitter account of Robert Downey Jr., the actor playing Iron Man in the franchise. Based on the exchange of tweets by Marvel Studios and Downey Jr., the premiere eventually was pushed to an earlier date, making it April 27. This sudden move, regardless if it was a publicity stunt by Marvel or just plain coincidence, garnered more hype for the fans.

A call to silence

Another thing that fuelled the hype towards the movie was the social media post made by the Russo brothers, who are also the directors of Infinity War. This was posted on their Twitter account directed to the fans of the franchise. One thing that plagued the MCU franchise for years was the fans and people who keep on posting the plot on their social media accounts after watching, caring less for those who haven’t watched the movie yet. Thus, revealing the entire movie plot and spoiling the entire movie experience.

The open letter was made by the directors to persuade the fans not to spoil the plot and that there has to be a concerted effort in making the movie as enjoyable to anybody as possible.

Furthermore, the movie marks the tenth (10th) anniversary since the first Marvel Studios movie was released. Iron Man premiered in 2008 making Infinity War the 19th movie in the franchise and signifies the 10th year of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All 18 movies had a connection and led to Infinity War. So you can say that Infinity War was ten years in the making and that it definitely has some big bombs and revelations affecting the franchise moving forward.

The picture above was the line the author experienced during the premiere of Infinity War last April 25. I watched Infinity War on the first day and planned on making a review after. However, it would definitely reveal the plot and I didn’t want to spoil the moviegoers’ experience. So here I am, writing a guide to those casual fans and moviegoers who want to appreciate and watch Infinity War and doesn’t have the slightest idea on what to expect.

Based on the picture above, people gathered on the first day to see the most-anticipated movie in the MCU franchise yet. I took the opportunity to ask the fans as to why there is hype and why are they excited to see the movie. Below are some testimonials from the die-hard fans present at the premiere, stating why you should watch Infinity War.

“Infinity War is an accumulation of 10 years of movies’ worth of lore build up, interconnecting plot, and emotional weight. Although it is unnecessary to watch all 18 films, it is necessary to watch certain important ones to be able to understand the plot leading up to this such as Iron Man, The Avengers movies, Captain America Civil War, The Guardian of the Galaxies, Dr. Strange, and Thor Ragnarok at least,” Daena Yap said.

“Infinity War is an important event for me because it sums up the relationship between the Marvel Universe that in each movie, it creates an even bigger movie. It means that to understand the big picture, you need to understand all the little things that creates that big picture,”Clarrissa Valencerina said.

“It is the biggest part of the Marvel Universe story line. It’s all of the stories of each hero of the Marvel Universe come together,” Douleia Yap said.

Die-hard fans are definitely going to watch Avengers: Infinity War. The main concern of this article is the casual moviegoers and non-Marvel fans. Even if the hype towards the release of the movie point to box office success, the fans just keep on increasing. However, it’s not all just about hype. You can count on it when I say that this hype is not wasted and it has the substance to back itself up. Yet again, let me say that the hype is as real as it can get.

For those who want to watch the movie, it’s still showing in cinemas nationwide. You can watch the two trailers below.
